County solicitor, commissioners say recent election went smoothly; new election director praised

County Solicitor Bozovich and commissioners said the most recent election proceeded smoothly and commended the Board of Elections and county election office for their work, singling out new election director Brian Norwood for his efforts.

Bozovich told commissioners that the election "was very smooth overall" and credited the Board of Elections and the election office. He said there were no major anticipated problems and that new polling location setups went well. Commissioners also noted one precinct required rescanning of ballots but that the problem was resolved quickly. One commissioner said in six years on the board this was the smoothest election he had seen and that overall results were delivered in a timely fashion.

Commissioners also observed turnout was lower than hoped for in an "off year" election without state or federal contests. There was no formal action taken; the comments were an informational update from the solicitor and commissioners.
