The Beach Grove City Schools Board of School Trustees on July 15 approved a slate of personnel actions, handbooks and administrative contract renewals and authorized several items the administration said are needed before the start of the school year.
Director of Operations and Personnel Mr. Garmin requested board approval of the submitted personnel report and presented three handbooks for approval: administrator, classified and transportation. "Transportation handbook was really completely redo. It is much more comprehensive," Garmin said, and asked the board for motions to approve employment recommendations and the handbooks.
The board approved the employment recommendations for July, approved the 2025–26 ECA positions, and approved the administrators, classified and transportation handbooks for 2025–26 after motions and seconding by board members. The board also approved the advertised minutes and claims for June 2025 and a set of fundraisers presented to the board. No public commenters were signed up during the meeting.
Business staff asked the board to advertise the 2026 budget; Julie (business office) said she had spoken with the Department of Local Government Finance and anticipated AVs arriving around August 1. The board voted to advertise the 2026 budget; a subsequent budget hearing was announced for the September meeting and formal budget adoption is scheduled for October, with tax statements (Form 1782) expected in December or early January.
The board approved renewal of 2025–26 administrative contracts that had been submitted to trustees in advance of the meeting with no changes, and authorized proposed amendments to the educational products and services agreement with K12 Virtual and authorized the school counsel, Michelle Cooper, to negotiate the contract based on those amendments. The board was told the amendments "might be negotiated beyond what is proposed but giving us the authority to be able to negotiate from that point," and the board authorized the proposed amendments and counsel to proceed.
Ending: Several personnel and operational items were approved by voice vote. The board also set preliminary steps for the upcoming budget schedule and authorized counsel to negotiate amendments to a virtual-education contract; no roll-call vote totals were recorded in the transcript.
