The subcommittee said soccer represents roughly 80% of total players living in Tiburon while lacrosse accounts for the remainder. Current field‑time allocation across spring and fall was described in the presentation as in the mid‑to‑high 60s percent in favor of soccer; the subcommittee is evaluating options that would raise soccer’s share closer to 75% annually. Staff and commissioners described that adjustment as equivalent to about 3 full field hours per week in the spring, or two days per week using half the field, though no formal change has been proposed.
Subcommittee members said proposed policy edits would formalize shared‑use language (the current written policy does not expressly allow shared fields despite current practice), add clearer rules for wet‑field closures and maintenance, and request a town operations report on maintenance and repairs (in particular, repairs to muddy storage areas for goals and gopher hole remediation). The subcommittee asked staff to include those maintenance items in the January town operations and maintenance report.
Commissioners said they will meet again with soccer and lacrosse before the January commission meeting and then publish draft policy language for public comment at a future meeting. No formal policy change was voted on at the Dec. 16 meeting.
