Superintendent outlines multi-year strategic planning process for Wappingers schools

Superintendent Dr. Bonk told the board on Oct. 20 that the Wappingers Central School District has begun a multi-year strategic-planning process to update the district's goals and objectives for the next five-plus years.
Dr. Bonk said the last strategic plan was revised in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic and that the district has convened a core committee that has met twice. He said supplemental committees will be launched to develop measurable goals across academics, social-emotional supports and operational systems and that the process will include targeted surveys and community engagement to produce a community-informed blueprint by late spring or summer.
"We want to define what a Wappingers Central School District educational experience looks like," Dr. Bonk said, and the planning will focus on systems-development, safety, curriculum, engagement and whole-child objectives. He said the process will be "Wappingerized," meaning tailored to local community needs, and that the administration expects to move into a fuller phase of meetings after the holidays with the hope of outlining a clear plan by the end of the next school year.
