Student rep: spirit week, new ID lanyard system and phone policy trending at high school

"Today was the first day. It was red, white and blue day," Dylan said, and he outlined the week’s schedule: character day, Teen Beach movie day, country versus country club day and class color day. Dylan said homecoming will feature a pep rally with shortened periods, and the district will also hold a ‘No Place for Hate’ assembly during the week with shortened periods at participating schools.
On operations, Dylan said the high school is piloting student ID cards with a company called Move. "We're gonna be having student IDs with cards in them from a company called Move... we're gonna have lanyards with student IDs, and they're gonna scan into school and into all of their classrooms. This is gonna not only make attendance easier, but it's gonna keep the school generally safer knowing where our students are at all times," he said. Dylan said about 80 students were participating in trial runs and district staff have worked to get the system ready for a planned implementation around Oct. 15.
Dylan also told the board that a recently implemented phone policy "has been working very well" and that students are adjusting to the change.
The board heard the student report during the consent portion of the meeting; no formal board action was required on the spirit-week activities or the ID pilot, which is an administrative implementation overseen by building leadership and central office staff.
Dylan closed by noting the high school’s optimism heading into homecoming and thanking staff and students for their participation.
Ending: The board received the student update as an informational item; any operational questions or final rollouts for the ID system will be handled by district administrators and building leaders.
