Historic resources survey plan continued to Oct. 6 for final edits

The Colorado Springs Historic Preservation Board voted unanimously on Sept. 8 to continue consideration of the Colorado Springs Historic Resources Survey and Context Plan to its Oct. 6 meeting so staff can complete edits requested by the board and the State Historic Fund.

Board members and staff said the draft survey has been revised to reflect prior board comments and a recent review by the State Historic Fund, but staff recommended one more month to confirm all edits were fully incorporated before taking formal action. "Staff is recommending, however, that we continue that," Planning staff member Bill Gray said during the meeting.

The board's decision pauses final action so staff can send the updated draft back to the State Historic Fund and give board members time to confirm the revisions are accurate. "I move we continue the discussion of the Colorado Springs Historic Resources Survey Plan to next month," a board member said; Chair Terry Lowenberg seconded the motion, which passed with five votes in favor and ultimately recorded as unanimous after an absent member confirmed their aye vote.

Board members previously reviewed the survey and context plan at length; staff said the package was revised to address comments from both the board and the State Historic Fund. No funding or regulatory decisions were made at this meeting; the board will revisit the draft on Oct. 6.

The continuance preserves the current draft for one more round of review and gives the State Historic Fund and board members additional time to ensure edits are addressed before the board takes final action.
