Hillsboro R-III board approves routine contracts, leases, stipends and pay-rate changes

The Hillsboro R-III School Board on the evening’s agenda approved a series of routine financial and contract items, including a $113,717.50 bill to Jefferson College and multiple lease and contract agreements.

Board action included approval of a payment of $113,717.50 to Jefferson College; the motion passed with a single abstention. The board approved a 2025–26 John Deere tractor lease estimated at $10,500. The board also approved an amendment placing non-certified reading tutors on the paraprofessional salary schedule; certified teachers and eligible retirees working as reading tutors will be paid $135 per day. The board approved the district’s annual “Thankfulness/Thanksgiving” culture-and-climate stipend for employees and the construction contract with Brock Miller Construction to renovate two high-school classrooms into the new “facts and culinary kitchen” learning spaces.

The board approved a resolution authorizing execution and delivery of equipment schedule number 2 under the district’s existing master equipment lease-purchase agreement with Bank of America to finance heating, ventilation and air-conditioning improvements at the high school. The board also approved track timing contracts with Championship Timing and several sets of minutes, including the regular meeting minutes and minutes from the Sept. 25 tax-rate hearing; the minutes motions recorded one abstention on those items.
