Bannock County commissioners approve indigent cremations, equipment lease, snow-removal contract and enter executive session

Bannock County commissioners approved a series of routine and signature-only items during their session, including two indigent-cremation assistance applications, three lien releases, a lease for a loader, unemployment charges for the last quarter, a snow-removal contract, and five quit-claim deeds from a recent tax-deed sale. The board also voted to enter executive session under Idaho Code 74-206(1)(c) to discuss interest in real property.

The board approved two applications for indigent cremation assistance, each for $1,500. According to the assessor’s office, the first application (case no. 20260005) was submitted by a 60-year-old female on behalf of her 58-year-old spouse; the applicant met Idaho Code criteria for assistance and agreed to a $25-per-month repayment plan. The second application (case no. 20260006) was filed by a 53-year-old female for prior expenses for her 74-year-old mother; she also met criteria and agreed to a $25 monthly repayment plan. The board approved releases of lien for case numbers 20180211, 20120250 and 20100273.

Comptroller Klausner presented lease documents for a loader that the county had previously approved; the paperwork reflected an adjusted interest rate cited in the meeting. The board signed the lease agreement as presented.

The board authorized payment related to unemployment charges for the last quarter totaling $1,544.26. The comptroller summarized the components as $1,096.95 for a sheriff employee and $982 for a jail employee, offset by a credit for a coroner employee, producing the stated quarterly total.

The board approved a resolution identified as 2025-74 to reallocate county operations funds for jail-related needs; the meeting record classed this as a “signature only” item. Commissioners also signed a contract with Mountain Shadow Landscaping for snow removal; commissioners noted the contract excludes active snow removal on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day, and discussed the option of calling crews out on holidays for an extra fee.

A separate credit-application form for Vestas, for charges tied to the YDC building, was completed and signed so the county would have a distinct account for that facility. The consent agenda, approved by voice vote, included manual checks and alcohol-license matters and was signed by commissioners. The board signed five quit-claim deeds resulting from the tax-deed sale.

Near the end of the session, the commission voted to go into executive session under Idaho Code 74-206(1)(c) to discuss interest in real property; the motion was made and seconded and carried on a voice vote.
