The City Council voted on Oct. 27 to authorize the city manager to execute a contract for the Mary H. Wright Greenway Trail Phase 2 project with Community First Developers of Anderson, the city’s staff said.
The project will extend the Mary H. Wright Greenway from South Converse Street to connect the south side corridor into the existing trail system, including larger pedestrian walkways and protected bicycle lanes similar to earlier Daniel Morgan improvements. Jay Squires, public works director (city), said bids were reviewed and that Community First Developers submitted the responsible low bid; staff recommended the council allow the city manager to enter a contract.
Councilmember motioned to approve the contract and the motion passed by voice vote; no roll‑call tally was read into the record during the meeting. Staff said the work should take about 45 days to complete and that state funds would be used to pay for the project. Squires noted Community First Developers previously completed resurfacing on Mary Black and was satisfactory on that work.
Ending: Staff said the project will include detour routes while work is under way and that staff will provide project timing and detour details to affected neighborhoods.
