North Las Vegas council approves budget augmentation, zoning reclassification and equipment donation; several appointments confirmed

The North Las Vegas City Council on June 18 approved a package of routine and substantive actions including a fiscal-year 2024–25 budget augmentation, a zoning reclassification for a 1.71-acre parcel, and the donation of surplus fire equipment to a cross-border firefighting nonprofit.

The council adopted Resolution No. 2741 to augment the city’s 2024–25 budget after a staff presentation that described the change as a compliance step required by state law. Justin O’Brien, the city’s budget manager, said, “Budget augmentation is something that we present to council every year as required by NRS. It includes any increase to the adopted budget previously approved by council and is offset with any increases in revenues or fund balance.” The council voted to approve the resolution after a public hearing; no public commenters were recorded on the item and the motion passed on the record.

The council also held a public hearing on a zoning reclassification (ZN042025 /…
