A nearby resident, Marshelle Walker Smith, expressed concern about driveway access and traffic on Simmons Street; the applicant’s representative, Mark Mulhall, said the property has existed since 1979 and that the application would not change operations or increase traffic.
• Resolution 2739 — Donation of fire equipment to Bomberos Latinos (Item 21): Approved. The council authorized the donation of decommissioned fire apparatus and equipment to Bomberos Latinos. Council members discussed the city’s prior donations of retired apparatus to agencies in Mexico and asked staff about the receiving organization and tracking. Deputy Chief Ben Erickson said the department will obtain additional information about the receiving organizations and post-delivery arrangements.
• Appointments and reappointments (Items 33–35): Approved. The council appointed David Jackson to the Utility Advisory Board (term to 11/30/2026) and reappointed Councilmember Isaac Barone to the Clark County Regional Flood Control District and the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (terms to 11/30/2026); Barone indicated acceptance of both reappointments.
• Consent agenda and procedural items: The council approved the agenda and the consent agenda (Items 2–14) as read; Items 16 and 17 were continued to July 16, 2025 at the applicant’s request.
• Ordinances introduced for first reading (Items 22–31, 32): The council introduced a package of building- and safety-code ordinances to adopt the 2023–2024 editions of model codes with Southern Nevada amendments (International Residential Code 2024, International Fire Code 2024, National Electrical Code 2023, International Wildland-Urban Interface Code 2024, International Swimming Pool & Spa Code 2024, International Building Code 2024, International Energy Conservation Code 2024, International Existing Building Code 2024, Uniform Mechanical Code 2024, Uniform Plumbing Code 2024) and a separate zoning reclassification (Ordinance 3249) listed in the agenda for introduction only.
