The board honored Angie Madoon Henson and Jamie Morris, FFA teachers at Verona High School, who received a statewide Voya award to support an agricultural literacy project that incorporates sheep into gardening and soil improvement. Angie said students will learn plant science, animal care, and marketing through the project and noted the program is now a finalist for a national award.
Board members also highlighted a viral clip from a New Century School fourth-grade music class taught by Dr. Hollenberry. Staff reported the district’s post had more than 3.1 million views, thousands of comments, shares and saves at the time of the presentation. "It's truly a viral moment and representation from New Century," the presenter said, and the board extended congratulations to Dr. Hollenberry and her students.
No formal board action accompanied the recognitions; they were announced at the start of the meeting.
