Board: Priority Waste 'cured' default; no further action taken but monitoring will continue

Macomb Township staff told the board Oct. 8 that Priority Waste has addressed service problems that had prompted a notice of default and that complaint volumes have returned to typical levels.
"My team... informs me today that, the performance of Priority Waste has normalized — that we are now no longer receiving any more additional calls than we would have received under GFL or at any other time during our tenure here," Supervisor Justin Viviano said on the record.
Township counsel advised that the board does not need to rescind the notice; the company cured the default and the notice will expire, though the board can issue a new notice if problems recur. Trustees agreed to continue monitoring service.
Board members commended Priority Waste workers observed working late to recover service levels and thanked staff for efforts to restore normal collections. No formal action was taken; trustees said they would revisit the issue if performance declines.
