The Speedway Town Council unanimously approved Resolution No. 2025-14 on Oct. 27, authorizing a special purchase of a Vactor truck for sewer and stormwater maintenance.
Town manager Grant Kleinheinz and town clerk-treasurer Philip Faust explained the resolution documents why the town would use Sourcewell cooperative purchasing rather than an open bid and identified the recommended vehicle and vendor. The purchase price presented to the council was $513,651.19; the town expects a $60,000 trade-in value for the existing unit that has served for about 20 years. Kleinheinz noted a clerical error in the draft resolution referencing a different prior amount and said staff would correct the language before finalizing paperwork.
Kleinheinz described the Vactor truck as a long-lived asset (15–20 years) used to maintain sewer and stormwater lines, clear catch basins and remove obstructions such as roots and debris. He said the vehicle will be paid for from the wastewater fund.
The council voted 5–0 to approve the resolution as amended.
