The Village of Oak Park Finance Committee on Oct. 30 reviewed the timeline for the FY26 budget process, including department presentations, capital-improvement review and dates for full Board hearings and adoption.
The committee heard that the operating-department review would continue over two nights: six departments presented Oct. 30 and the remaining departments — including police, human resources, information technology and the Village Manager’s office — scheduled for Nov. 6. A capital-improvement program (CIP) review with the finance committee is set for Nov. 4.
Village Manager Jackson told the committee the budget would be referred to the full Board for two discussions beginning Nov. 11, with a public hearing planned for Nov. 18 and a target date for adoption of Dec. 2.
The schedule is intended to give the Board time to consider line-item changes after the department presentations and the CIP review. Interim Chief Financial Officer Donna Gaten joined from Zoom to introduce the presentations and support the schedule overview.
The committee will reconvene on Nov. 4 and Nov. 6 for the remaining budget review sessions before recommendations go to the full Board.
