4100 North Fairways Drive paving nears completion; county, contractor plan small ceremony

Weber County staff gave a construction update on the 4100 North Fairways Drive project. The road paving is complete, crews are finishing shoulders, grading and fencing, and county road crews have paved the connecting road to River Drive to tie into the new pavement.
Staff reported stop signs have been installed at the intersection of River Drive and 4100 North, converting that location to a four‑way stop to improve traffic management with new traffic flows. An uphill intersection near the bridge will remain a two‑way stop with traffic on 4100 North continuing through.
The contractor indicated the project is on track for opening and tentatively planned to open the road on Friday if weather cooperates; striping is the remaining on‑site work. The contractor’s representatives suggested a small ribbon‑cutting or “soiree” to recognize the project; commissioners supported acknowledging the contractor’s work and asked staff to prepare a short letter of thanks and to coordinate any public ribbon‑cutting at a date that works for commissioners and the contractor.
Staff said the trail adjacent to the project is already seeing increased use and that the road will provide another egress option in a congested area. Commissioners asked staff to coordinate the contractor’s preferred date and to provide signage and photos; staff agreed to supply a draft letter for commissioners’ signatures and to coordinate attendance where possible.
