The Kings County planning commission on Oct. 6 approved a conditional use permit for a manure‑separation system at an existing dairy and voted to recommend an amendment to the county development code to permit certain commercial solar projects on medium‑high priority agricultural land. Community Development Agency Director Chuck Kenny reported the commission’s actions to the Board of Supervisors on Oct. 7 and the board accepted the report.
Kenny said conditional use permit number 25-06 for DeGroote Dairy North proposes a manure separation system at the dairy’s Hanford‑area site on Grangeville Boulevard; the commission approved that permit. The commission also considered “development code text change number 668.2,” which would amend the general plan’s agricultural priority map language to allow commercial solar development on some medium‑high priority agricultural lands in the AG-40 zone; the commission voted to forward a recommendation to the board to accept the change.
Board action: The board accepted the planning commission report by motion. No public comments were recorded during the report.
