Delta County commissioners voted Oct. 7 to defer consideration of audiovisual upgrades for the Service Center boardroom so staff could gather additional quotes and technical options.
Commissioners said they wanted more information, including updated quotes from earlier in 2023 and vendor input that Commissioner Jensen had provided. Staff referenced proposals that included an "owl" conferencing device among other options; the board asked to revisit the matter at the next regular meeting.
Earlier in the meeting the IT Committee reported it was pulling back from a plan to keep water in the courthouse basement data center and would explore alternative locations for county server infrastructure. Committee members said investing in the basement location did not make fiscal sense and the committee would return with other site options.
The motion to defer the boardroom-technology item was seconded and approved by the board.
Provenance: The IT committee update appears in the committee minutes segment; the boardroom technology item is recorded under new business and was deferred to a future meeting.
