Farragut board approves second-reading budget amendment, several permits and an appointment

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen of the Town of Farragut approved multiple routine items at its Oct. 9, 2025 meeting, including a second-reading ordinance moving American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars into the town’s capital investment fund, two special-event permits and an appointment to the Education Relations Committee.

Ordinance 25-18, the only formal ordinance on the agenda, moved roughly $1,213,764 from the town’s ARPA fund into the capital investment program to account for ARPA-covered salary and benefit costs already incurred and to allow the Farragut fiber optic broadband project to reside in the capital program while make-ready utility work continues. The ordinance passed on second and final reading by roll call vote at approximately 6:27 p.m. as recorded in the meeting minutes.

The board also approved special-event permits for two road races that will use town facilities and portions of local streets. The Veterans Run (noted in the packet as a combined 5K/10K beginning and ending at the Farragut Community Center) and the annual Thanksgiving run noted in the record as “Hot Trout Run” were both presented to the board by staff and recommended for approval by the town’s event committee, conditional on required written parking approvals and updated certificates of insurance.

Separately, the board appointed Tony Scott as the Farragut High School Education Foundation representative to the Education Relations Committee. Town staff said the foundation seat had been vacant and that Scott’s application was included in the meeting packet.

Other routine business approved without extended debate included adoption of the posted Oct. 2025 agenda and approval of the September minutes; the record notes each of those actions passed with an abstention recorded on each item.
