Delta County board approves hiring actions, reappointments and thanks long-serving planning commissioner

The Delta County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 7 authorized filling a Veterans Service Officer vacancy created when Mr. Xavier became Veterans Affairs director, approved filling a probation officer opening created by Matt Hughes’s promotion to juvenile probation supervisor, reappointed Cheryl Lohman to the DOTA board and Michelle Myron to the Human Services Board, and directed staff to send a thank-you letter to John Denholm for his years of service on the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals.

County staff told the board the Veterans Service Officer position would be advertised to accept public applications; no salary range or hiring timetable was provided in the public meeting record. For the probation vacancy, the board said the judge had recommended promoting Matt Hughes to the supervisor role and the county would begin recruiting to fill his former probation officer position.

Both reappointments — Cheryl Lohman to the DOTA board and Michelle Myron to the Human Services Board — were approved without objection. Commissioners moved to send a letter thanking John Denholm for his long service after staff noted he had become ineligible to serve following an address change out of Delta County.
