Chair Arjun Gupta reported on outreach and programming tied to Tiburon’s newly selected artist laureate, Krista Grenewalt, and an upcoming participation in San Francisco Art Week in January 2026.
Gupta said Grenewalt proposed an opening reception and in-gallery programming during San Francisco Art Week (Jan. 17–20, 2026) including tours, artist talks and participatory art activities. "She has proposed a Tuesday opening reception," Gupta said, and described plans for weekday tours and a closing artist talk on Sunday.
Separately, staff reported on the ad hoc committee’s work to design a permanent artist-laureate wall at Town Hall. Michael Mingoya, a professional art installer, reviewed the site and submitted a proposal that would bring the project's total to about $955.26 for design, fabrication of gallery text, and installation work. Marissa told commissioners that $370.26 has already been spent installing vinyl lettering and that the ad hoc had previously been authorized to spend up to $1,000.
The commission did not take further action beyond accepting the updates. Marissa said town staff supports the artist’s proposed schedule and will assist with logistics and coordination with Destination Tiburon and the Chamber for promotion.
Commissioners asked to see the artist’s formal schedule and materials in advance so the commission can coordinate volunteers and public programming before the December meeting.
