Pryor Creek board backs recommendation to send Jayco bid for gym rooftop unit to city council

Staff presented two sealed bids that had been advertised: Jayco (lower bid) and VersaPro (about $73,000). The staff recommendation favored Jayco in part because the firm has performed other work for the center and staff said Jayco technicians discovered gas leaks in the building's HVAC infrastructure during prior service visits.
The board discussed timing and cost. Staff said the unit selected has an anticipated lead time of about 14 weeks and that the center can pursue the purchase under its sales tax exemption, which could reduce cost. Staff noted capital outlay funds for the rec center (account number given in the packet) are available and that the center spent about $150,000 on HVAC work the prior year.
Members also raised other near‑term facilities needs: replacing sand in a large pool filter (staff's rough estimate: $25,000), repairing showers and locker‑room flooring that staff described as hard to clean and rusting, and longer‑term maintenance. Board members said they wanted to prioritize work while keeping available funds and called for competitive bids on the specialized pool work.
A motion by Board member McFarland to forward the Jayco recommendation to city council was seconded by Karen Cook and approved by voice vote; the board packet listed the rec center capital outlay account as the funding source. The board noted the city council must review and approve the purchase.
