Sustainability Commission elects Mitra as chair and Alexi Miller as vice chair

The City of Eugene Sustainability Commission on Wednesday elected Mitra as its new chair and Alexi Miller as vice chair for the upcoming fiscal year.

The nominations were presented at the meeting and both motions were approved by the commission. Commissioners thanked outgoing members John Fisher and Dennis for their service; staff noted two new commissioners — Jan Philinger and Emily Reynolds — will join the commission in the fall.

Outgoing commissioners

Commissioners publicly thanked John Fisher for work on outreach and communications and Dennis for leading the education and outreach committee and organizing tabling events. Both were praised for community engagement and advocacy; Dennis said he will continue to participate in climate work as a community member.

Administrative follow up

Staff will notify City Council and update the commission roster and public materials to reflect the new chair and vice chair. The commission also reminded members the group will not meet in July and August and will reconvene in September to develop a work plan with the new leadership.
