Bay County Special Magistrate Tiffany Serto on Thursday reviewed progress on 4012 Treasure Circle, a property damaged in a tornado in January. Code enforcement reported the structure was found unfit and unsafe and that LAG Construction had provided engineering, obtained a deposit from the owner and submitted permit materials to begin repairs.
Inspector Bill Thorpe told the magistrate the structure — a two-story frame building with rotted floors and damaged roof and stairs — had been found in violation and that LAG Construction contacted code enforcement and provided an engineering report and a repair quote. Thorpe said the contractor confirmed receipt of a deposit and that permit applications were submitted to the county.
Thorpe said his office would continue to monitor permit approvals and that the county would return the case to the magistrate if required work was not completed. Magistrate Serto said she would withhold further action for the moment given the contractor's engagement but would bring the matter back if repairs and permitting did not move forward as represented.
Next steps: LAG Construction has applied for permits and reported it will proceed with repairs; code enforcement will monitor permit issuance and construction progress and will return to the magistrate for further orders if the repairs are not performed.
