Planning commission approves Rock the South venue; neighbors voice traffic, noise and safety concerns

The Decatur City planning commission approved an application by Peach Tree Entertainment LLC to allow a commercial amusement/event venue and a temporary trailer court for the Rock the South event on property in an AG‑1 district (partial parcel ID 0208280000010).

Applicant Michael McBrayer told commissioners the amusement use on appeal is intended as a long‑term approval for the annual Rock the South concert and that the temporary trailer court would be used only for the month of the event. "Rock the South is a 1 time a year event," McBrayer said. He told the commission the temporary trailer court would last "no more than 10 days" and that teardown typically takes about three days.
