Design Review Board approves Parish Construction exterior revisions with conditions
Summary
Parish Construction presented exterior paint and material changes for an existing building. The board approved alternate color scheme 2 but required that the darker iron-ore color be extended to the canopy level on side elevations and that the loading-dock canopy be reduced by one window bay.

Parish Construction returned to the Design Review Board on Oct. 17 to present a revised exterior paint and material package for an existing Alpharetta building. Architects Anna Correa and Kevin Cattellas described a two-color strategy, vertical metal panel accents at the front, and painted canopies.
Correa said the revised package responds to prior comments that an all-white scheme was too plain; the applicants presented an alternate ("alternate 2") that uses a darker iron-ore/gray base and contrasting accent canopies. The board asked follow-up questions about where the color changes meet mortar joints, whether color breaks fall at existing control joints, and how the scheme reads from both Roswell Street and the Alpha Loop.
Members discussed multiple variations on how far to extend the darker field color on the side elevations. After seeing two alternates, the board favored the second option for its proportions and how it sets off the signage. The board also asked the team to reduce the length of a loading-dock canopy so it does not span an additional window bay, and requested the darker iron-ore color be carried down to the canopy or gray band so the façade reads as intended from the street.
A motion to approve the exterior revisions with two conditions (bring iron-ore down to canopy level on the east and west elevations; reduce the loading-dock canopy by one window bay) passed 6-0. Staff and the applicants will finalize paint chips and construction details in follow-up submittals.
Project presenters noted an outstanding survey issue related to an on-site sewer/water alignment and a potential enclosure for trailers/dumpsters near the Alpha Loop; the applicant said that condition is being resolved before construction.
The board recorded no public comments on the item.
