District staff delivered a two-part presentation that combined an overview of the DataDig/MTSS process with fall benchmark results and analytics from EduCLIMBER and FastBridge.
The presenter explained the district’s approach: use multiple data sources (EduCLIMBER as a data warehouse, FastBridge benchmarks, Otis and curriculum platform analytics) to inform weekly PLC work and targeted action steps. "Goals are based on students; action steps are based on adults," the presenter said, summarizing the district’s emphasis on adult instructional strategies to change student outcomes.
On early reading subtests, staff highlighted subskill performance in word segmenting: 46% of kindergarten students met the mid-to-late kindergarten target on that subskill, and 79% of first graders met the benchmark, short of but close to the district’s 80% goal. Staff noted assessment instruments and standards change across grades and cautioned that FastBridge skill measures are different from state MCA cohort measures.
The presentation also included longitudinal, building-level slides showing improvement at the high school and elementary levels and noted second-grade gains attributed to consistent implementation of CKLA (Core Knowledge Language Arts) and the science of reading training. Staff said the district will continue data digs three times per year and weekly PLC data use to guide instruction.
