Brighton advances Kaboom playground application; community build would require about 90 volunteers

If the city is selected, Kaboom staff will lead a community engagement process that typically solicits about 20 children in the area to help develop design ideas; the children's group then votes on final elements and professional designers refine the winning concept. Gamolka said the build model requires roughly 90 community volunteers for one weekend (most of the work is completed in a single day) and that Kaboom provides on-site staff and engineers to oversee construction.
Staff said the Convention Visitors Bureau and other partners have indicated willingness to help recruit volunteers. No formal council action was required that evening; staff said they will notify the council if Brighton is selected for funding and will return with a build plan and volunteer recruitment timeline.
