WASHINGTON COUNTY, Texas — Washington County Commissioners Court on Oct. 28 voted to approve a standard AIA A101‑2017 agreement with Architexis, Inc., to begin Phase 2 of the historic courthouse exterior restoration.
Staff said county attorneys reviewed the lengthy contract and provided recommended edits that Architexis accepted. "The county attorney gave her recommendations, and those recommendations were sent to Architexis," a presenter told commissioners, and Architexis made the suggested changes.
County staff explained that exterior restoration work needed to occur before landscaping because heavy equipment required to remove and replace exterior panels and lintels would damage new landscape improvements. The restoration must follow Texas Historical Commission guidelines linked to the project's grant funding, officials said.
Commissioners moved to approve the AIA document A101‑2017 standard form agreement and authorized the county judge to execute it. The motion passed by voice vote.
