Hillsboro SD 1J board approves calendar, surplus‑acreage sale, Division 22 assurances and casts nominations

The Hillsboro School District 1J board on Nov. 19 took a series of governance actions during its regular session.
The board unanimously approved the evening’s agenda and the consent agenda. Members cast the district’s votes for several Oregon School Boards Association (OSBA) and Legislative Policy Committee candidates; nominations and roll calls were recorded on the public record and the board’s clerk recorded the outcomes as “motion carries.”
The board approved the Division 22 assurances for 2024–25 and explicitly acknowledged the postponement of elementary math materials and the K–12 science adoption because of financial reductions. A motion to approve the Division 22 assurances passed on a roll call vote.
Members approved a purchase‑and‑sale agreement for surplus acreage the district had negotiated; the board thanked staff for the work on the transaction and the motion carried. The board also adopted the 2026–27 school calendar after committee work, public input and internal review; trustees praised the collaborative calendar process before voting to adopt.
Board members recognized the district’s receipt of a meritorious budget award for transparency in budgeting and noted that Hillsboro is one of five Oregon districts to receive the award. Several additional nominations and appointment votes related to OSBA and the Legislative Policy Committee were handled during the meeting; the clerk called roll and recorded the approvals.
