Assistant Superintendent Olivia Young presented revised board policy and administrative regulations on the districts recognition of religious beliefs and customs and recommended adoption during the Oct. 28 meeting.
"The proposed changes are recommended by the California School Board Association in order to ensure compliance and alignment with federal regulations," Olivia Young said as she introduced the item. After a motion and a second, the board voted 5to0 to adopt the updated policy and administrative regulation.
The district did not record extended debate on the item during the meeting. The clerk called for the student representatives preferential vote as part of the roll call; the motion passed unanimously. The presentation framed the revisions as conforming language suggested by the California School Boards Association and intended to align district practice with federal requirements.
The board did not attach additional amendments or conditions during the adoption vote; the revised policy and administrative regulation will be incorporated into district policy records per normal administrative procedures.
