San Juan commission approves permits, reappointments and MOU; two pageant seats left open

The San Juan City Commission approved several routine and permit-related items, reappointed two board members and approved an interagency memorandum of understanding at its meeting (date not specified).

The commission granted a conditional use permit for New Event Enterprises LLC to operate a drive-thru retailing beer and wine at 912 East Business 83 (Block 1, Meden Subdivision). Staff emphasized the permit is conditional and can be revoked for noncompliance; no public opposition was recorded and the motion to approve carried.

The commission also approved a food and beverage certificate and a late-hour certificate for Takitakon restaurant (Pacifacone LLC) at 2025 North Road, Suites B and C (Lots 1-3, Block 1, Paradise Park subdivision). The applicant sought a 2 a.m. closing on Saturdays and midnight on Sundays; staff notified adjacent property owners and recommended approval.

Under appointments, the commission reappointed Sabrina Fuentes and Jean Quintanilla to the Miss San Juan Pageant board. The commission noted two vacancies for the seats previously held by Emil Herrera and Miseric Lopez; the seats remain open pending additional applicants.

The commission approved a memorandum of understanding between the San Juan Police Department and an external partner referenced in the meeting record as the "Texas anti gun tag center rear rim battle"; Chief Sequoia presented the MOU and the commission approved the agreement.

On its consent agenda the commission approved the tax collection report for September 2025.
