The City Council approved a resolution authorizing the purchase of three 2026 Ford Interceptor Police Patrol Utility vehicles for use by the Temple Terrace Police Department.
Captain Jacob Carlisle of the police department explained the purchase is part of the department's vehicle replacement program. The budget included $181,158 in the fiscal year 2026 community investment tax fund for the vehicles; the final invoice from Bartow Ford, procured under Pasco County contract IFBRR21042, totaled $185,898.09. Captain Carlisle told council the additional $4,740.09 will be funded from CIT reserves.
Carlisle said the purchase price included emergency lighting, final graphics and equipment to outfit the vehicles for patrol service. He also said that once the new vehicles enter service, the department will dispose of the replaced vehicles via auction following city procedures.
Council asked for a clarification about model year wording on the agenda; Carlisle confirmed the vehicles are 2026 model-year vehicles. Council approved the resolution by voice vote without recorded opposition.
What the vote means: The city will proceed to purchase and outfit the three marked patrol vehicles, allocate the overbudget amount to CIT reserves, and schedule disposal of replaced vehicles for auction under city policy.
