Council approved a $165,201.35 supplemental appropriation and a guaranteed maximum price amendment (GMP #7) to address earthwork mitigation at the AC Caplinger ball field renovation. Staff said 250 cubic yards of trash were removed and 7,661 cubic yards of soil imported to remediate deep trash layers beneath three fields.
Edmond city council on Oct. 21 approved a supplemental appropriation of $165,201.35 and a contract amendment to Crossland Construction (GMP #7) for earthwork mitigation tied to the AC Caplinger ball field renovation project.
Brad Rainey, parks and recreation director, explained contractors removed approximately 250 cubic yards of trash and imported about 7,661 cubic yards of clean fill to raise three fields that rested on a buried trash layer. He said unit prices for the work were included in the original earthwork bid and that the Capital Improvement Project Advisory Board reviewed and recommended the amendment.
Council members who visited the site described visible improvement and urged the project be completed to allow spring play; Rainey said the schedule calls for major structure work in winter and sod and trees to be planted in spring once roots have taken.
The motions to approve both the budget amendment and the contract amendment passed 5‑0.
