Council approves consent calendar including municipal code updates; in closed session directs staff to return updated city attorney contract

The San Ramon City Council approved the consent calendar on Oct. 28 by a 5-0 vote. The consent calendar included an ordinance (listed by title) that repeals and replaces multiple California code chapters in Title C, Division C-1 of the San Ramon Municipal Code and adds a chapter for the California Existing Building Code.
By the clerk’s reading, the ordinance repealed and replaced the following code chapters: California Building Code (chapter 1), California Mechanical Code (chapter 2), California Plumbing Code (chapter 3), California Electrical Code (chapter 4), California Residential Code (chapter 5), California Green Building Standards Code (chapter 8), and California Fire Code (chapter 9), and added chapter 10, the California Existing Building Code, to title C, division C-1 of the municipal code. The clerk read the ordinance by title as part of the consent calendar; the consent calendar then passed 5-0.
Later in the meeting the council met in closed session pursuant to Government Code Section 54957 to evaluate the city attorney. On reconvening the council reported that it had met in closed session and “directed staff to bring back an updated city attorney employment contract for consideration by the city council in open session at the next city council meeting Nov. 12.” No vote tally or roll-call result was reported for that closed-session directive during the public report-out.
