The Ossining Board of Education on Oct. 20 approved multiple consent‑agenda financial items, including a bond issuance for the Ossining Public Library capital project and award of construction contracts for AMD school improvements.
Board members moved the consent agenda and, after a brief discussion, approved item 6.1: the resolution to proceed with bond issuance for the Ossining Public Library capital project. The motion carried by voice vote; no roll‑call tally was read into the public minutes.
Later in the financial consent items trustees approved awards of bids for the AMD cooling, driveway and maintenance/storage work (agenda items 6.6–6.9). District staff and the construction team reported that the received bids were "very favorable" and allowed the project team to include add alternates within the available funds. "We received very favorable bids, so we're able to add the add alternates into the project and it is all within the scope of money that we have, so we can air condition the gym," a district official said during the meeting.
Board discussion at the time reflected enthusiasm that the alternates -- including rooftop units, mechanical and electrical work required to support an air‑conditioned gym -- could be added without exceeding the project budget. The board approved the package of bid awards by voice vote during the consent agenda; individual tallies were not read.
The consent agenda also included routine business such as acceptance of gifts, appointment of consultants, minutes approval, and personnel matters. Several board members declared abstentions on volunteer approvals where they had potential conflicts; those abstentions were recorded in the meeting minutes.
