Council authorizes sale of small town parcel on Laurel Ridge Road for $6,000

The Tolland Town Council voted Oct. 28 to authorize the town manager to finalize sale of a town-owned parcel on Laurel Ridge Road to purchasers identified in the meeting as Brian and Jennifer (listed with 81 Mahler Road in the record) for $6,000.

Council opened and closed a public hearing with no public comments. During deliberations staff reminded council that new owners should be advised to record a deed and, if they wish to combine the purchased parcel with adjoining property, to complete the deed and consolidation by Oct. 1 to avoid a potential annual tax valuation delay. Staff said the parcel was excess land and its assessed value would be similar to other excess land on the purchasers' existing lot.

Councilors moved and adopted the resolution by roll call. Staff said the town will advise the purchasers on the process to merge parcels through deed and on tax-assessment implications.
