Edina HRA indefinitely tables financing plan for public parking garage at 7001 France Avenue South

The Edina Housing and Redevelopment Authority indefinitely tabled consideration of a proposed financing structure for a public parking garage at 7001 France Avenue South after a developer request to remove the item from the agenda.

Commissioner Peter Jackson moved to indefinitely table the item and Commissioner Pierce seconded. Manager Neuendorf confirmed there is no statutory requirement for a public hearing for the type of legislation that would implement the financing; staff said all public meeting notices had been posted. Commissioner Amy Risser said this was the third time the garage financing had been brought forward and expressed frustration at the repeated use of staff time and the late notice to the community, saying residents would need to watch closely for the item’s return.

The motion to indefinitely table the item passed by voice vote; all members present said "aye." No decision was made on the financing structure, and the item will return to a future HRA meeting if the developer resubmits it.
