The Uinta County Commission approved amendments to chapter 2.25 to update references to the Museum of Uinta County, align appointment terms to calendar‑year scheduling, clarify recordkeeping and require meeting records be posted on the Utah Public Notice website in accordance with Utah Code §52‑4 (Open and Public Meetings Act). The changes also clarified board authority to create standing and ad hoc committees and adjusted language about professional representation on the board to reflect state preservation guidance.
Following the ordinance discussion, the commission approved acceptance and execution of a Certified Local Government grant from the Utah State Historic Preservation Office for $20,000, with a county in‑kind match of $20,000, for a rehabilitation project on the Episcopal Church at 26 West Main (part of the Museum of Uinta County facilities). Preservation board members Amber Koski and Leanne Densler will serve as project managers; grants staff will administer procurement and financial compliance.
Commissioners said the building has been in the community for more than a century and requires maintenance to preserve its historic fabric. The commission moved to 'hear proof' and approved the ordinance edits and the grant contract.
