Resident raises Turnberry emergency‑access concerns; staff says Public Works following council policy

During public comment at the Oct. 16 meeting, Lauren Johnson Jordan (Ward 2) asked the Board of Public Safety for feedback about Turnberry Place Drive (Stecker), which residents use as an emergency access point. Jordan said the access has been part of the neighborhood for two to three decades and asked what standards apply and whether the current configuration makes emergency response more complicated.
Public Works Director Brown replied that the issue is not on the board’s agenda and would be inappropriate for in-depth discussion during public comment, but he said the department is acting under a council-adopted policy (enacted in April) and is in the process of responding to the homeowners association’s request for reassessment. Brown offered to forward the council policy to neighborhood representatives and to continue communication offline to resolve any email-delivery problems Jordan raised.
Staff said the item can be placed on a future board agenda for fuller consideration if the HOA or resident wishes to pursue it formally.
