Campton Hills — Trustees directed staff Oct. 7 to pursue vendor quotes to purchase and install a used 60-kilowatt generator that is available from KDOT for a reported $15,000. The generator would be used to power village facilities during extended outages and would provide two transfer switches to cover critical spaces.
Trustees said KDOT agreed to transport the unit and to assist with a concrete pad at no cost; the village expects to pay for disconnection, installation and a weather enclosure if desired. Trustee Boatner and others said the 60 kW unit, although larger than the village’s originally discussed option, could be installed with existing transfer-switch capacity now and expanded later if the board chooses to add transfer switches to cover additional spaces.
Trustee Nick said prior conversations and rough estimates make it plausible the village could acquire and install the KDOT unit for approximately $45,000 or less, depending on vendor quotes for hookup and transfer-switch work. The board asked staff to obtain at least two installation quotes and to bring detailed pricing to the board at the November meeting.
