Public works: village reports pavement work nearly complete, staff to seek federal road grants

Campton Hills — The village’s public-works consultant, Scott Marquardt of H & R Green, briefed the board on ongoing roadwork and upcoming grant plans.
Marquardt said the pavement-rejuvenation project has been completed and that eight of 11 roadways in the current resurfacing contract have been paved; the contractor still must finish restoration, curb-and-gutter work and paving on the remaining three roads and conclude work on Connors Road in a later set of operations. He reported the final change order and the first pay estimate came in slightly under budget and that the village was reimbursed by a developer for work in the Norton Lake subdivision that had been included in this year’s resurfacing effort.
Marquardt told the board the Public Works Committee recommended submitting two federal grant work orders to fund additional road projects; trustees were told to expect a formal work order for grant applications in about two weeks.
Trustees offered no objections to proceeding with grant applications and asked staff to bring formal contractor quotes and the work order for board action in a subsequent meeting.
