Headwaters Academy withdraws Campton Hills Montessori application; counsel explains reapplication process

Campton Hills — Village staff announced at the start of the Oct. 7 meeting that Headwaters Academy had withdrawn its application to host a Montessori school on Campton Hills Road, and the board removed related items A and B from the agenda.

Resident Brooke Kelly, who had been following the item, thanked trustees for their work and asked what would happen if Headwaters sought to reapply. Village counsel explained that withdrawal ends the pending application and that a reapplication would start a new special-use process, likely beginning with the Planning & Zoning Commission. Counsel said prior testimony from the original hearings "would likely be taken into account," but the formal application would be a new matter that Planning & Zoning would review before any return to the village board.

Other residents used the public-comment period to offer reactions. Mark Hodges praised advisory-committee members and urged the board to consider their findings carefully should a new application be filed. The village clerk confirmed the withdrawal and the board removed the two associated agenda items for the evening.

No formal decision or appeal was taken at the meeting; the board only acknowledged the withdrawal and confirmed the procedural next steps should the applicant decide to submit a new special-use petition.
