The Wildwood Celebration Commission recommended a $95,000 budget for the 2026 Wildwood Celebration, and the City Council approved the recommendation during the Oct. 13 work session.
Director Munich told council the commission — a volunteer group with ward liaisons and a council liaison — presented expenditures for the 2025 event, which marked the festival—s 30th anniversary. Munich said the city received approximately $42,000 in sponsorships, fees and in-kind gifts for 2025, and that total expenditures for the event were about $116,000, leaving roughly $80,000 of the budgeted funds spent. "The Celebration Commission is submitting for your consideration tonight a budget of $95,000 for the upcoming event in 2026," Munich said, noting that the amount matches 2025 and that the commission wanted to hold funding as the event moves to a new venue, Village Green.
Councilmember Donwell asked staff to include potential turf replacement or other durable-surface work at Village Green as part of the planning and budget discussions because the new venue will experience heavier foot traffic. Director Munich noted that a park-service sponsor (Go Green) might contribute in-kind services to help with turf or oval repairs.
Councilmember Donwell moved to approve the commission's recommendation; Councilmember Bakker seconded the motion and the council voted to approve it during the work session.
