County moves $18,878.52 between school quarterly appropriations to cover technology and annual contracts
Summary
The board approved an advance appropriation on Oct. 9 to move $18,878.52 from a third‑quarter school allotment into the second quarter to pay annual technology and other contracts. Volunteer finance facilitator Dr. Karen said the action was not new money but timing to avoid late fees and service interruptions.

Volunteer finance facilitator Dr. Karen told supervisors on Oct. 9 that the school division is operating under quarterly funding this fiscal year and that several annual contracts and technology bills are front‑loaded in the school’s spending cycle. She asked the board to move $18,878.52 from the division’s third‑quarter allocation into the second quarter so the district could pay annual technology contracts and avoid late fees or service interruptions.
Dr. Karen said the request does not increase the school budget but realigns existing appropriations and that she had identified several line items and contracts that were not included in the original budget estimates. She said staff will continue reconciling invoices and the county and school systems are working to reduce a vendor payment backlog.
After discussion and clarification about which account lines would be affected, the board approved the advance appropriation by voice vote.
