Manville consultants propose land-use map that favors rural preservation, tweaks thoroughfare alignments

Consultants from Kendon Keyes Collaborative presented a revised draft of Manville's Comprehensive Plan and Major Thoroughfare Plan at a council workshop, showing updated future land use categories and a retooled thoroughfare map intended to better match property lines and environmental constraints.

The plans preserve Highway 288 as a limited-access freeway and retain Highway 6 as the major arterial while changing several proposed lines that previously cut across private property. "Existing roads are where they are for good reasons," said Gary Mitchell, the consultant and project manager, explaining that smooth theoretical lines on older maps were revised back to existing alignments in places such as Old Massey Ranch Road and portions of Patterson and Croix.
