Auctioneer Commission approves $8,500 for TAA, OKs Nashville CE and delegates routine education reviews

The decisions followed a director—s report from Executive Director Roxanna Gamusio, who told commissioners the meeting packet arrived too late for a full review and asked the commission to give staff authority to approve routine education applications from repeat providers so those events are not delayed. "By Thursday, we already had the agenda on the website, and all the members had received their documents," Gamusio said in explaining the time constraint.
Commissioner Jeff Morris moved to approve the TAA sponsorship at $8,500; Ed Knight seconded the motion. The roll-call vote recorded Ed Knight, Jeff Morris and Dwayne Rogers voting yes. Morris then moved and Knight seconded approval of the Nashville Auction School continuing-education submission; that motion also passed by roll call.
After the votes, the commission considered whether to delegate routine continuing-education reviews to staff for providers with a documented history of compliance. Morris said he supported delegating authority for vendors the commission has "used consistently and respectfully over the last many years" while reserving the commission—s review for new or out-of-state providers. The commission voted to give Executive Director Gamusio, working with licensing manager Bob Hunter, authority to review and approve submissions from repeat, previously approved providers; new or unfamiliar providers will continue to come to the full commission for review.
The director—s report presented financial context for the discussion: through June 2025 the commission reported a fiscal-year surplus of $10,447, reserves of $528,013 and an educational fund balance of $175,919; Gamusio said the final year-end closing should be available in October.
The commission and staff said they would call an emergency meeting only if a new provider—s submission raised substantive concerns that required full-commission review.
