Henrico County on Oct. 28 awarded a $16.9 million unit-price contract to Curtis Contracting for the Magellan Parkway project that will build a four-lane curb-and-gutter roadway, a raised median, a shared-use path on the south side, sidewalk on the north side and a bridge over I-95 between Inglewood Farms Drive and Scott Road.

Public Works staff told the board construction is expected to start in December and be completed in November 2027. The project is funded with CVTA regional dollars and staff said the contract amount is roughly $8 million below the project budget. Supervisors expressed enthusiasm for a higher bridge clearance than nearby crossings to reduce vehicle strikes.

Supervisor Cooper moved approval; Supervisor Groges seconded and the motion carried.
