Henrico awards $22.3 million contract to renovate county animal shelter

On Oct. 28 the Henrico County Board of Supervisors awarded a $22,301,800 fixed-price contract to David A. Nice Builders Inc. for renovation of the county animal shelter.
County staff said the project scope includes interior renovations, replacement of mechanical equipment, replacement of dog kennels and construction of a surgical suite. Based on bid review staff concluded David A. Nice Builders Inc. was the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. The board paper also appropriated an additional $500,000 for the project.
Directors of General Services, Purchasing and the Office of the Chief of Police recommended approval and the county manager concurred. Supervisor Cooper moved to approve the award; Supervisor Nelson seconded and the motion carried.
