The commission authorized a roughly $127,000 contract with Redevelopment Management Associates (RMA) to develop a comprehensive economic development and redevelopment strategy with a long‑term financial analysis, a project staff said will take six to eight months.
The Coconut Creek City Commission on Oct. 23 approved a contract with Redevelopment Management Associates LLC to prepare a comprehensive economic development and redevelopment strategy and an associated long‑term financial analysis.
City staff said the agreement totals approximately $127,000 and was awarded through a competitive request for proposals. The scope includes data collection and market assessment, identifying underutilized privately owned and city‑owned properties for redevelopment, crafting targeted redevelopment strategies, and producing a financial and implementation analysis. Staff estimated the consultant's work will take about six to eight months and include outreach to property owners and stakeholders.
Christopher Brown, a principal with RMA, told commissioners the firm has previous municipal redevelopment experience and emphasized small businesses as central to local revitalization efforts. Commissioners said the work should help guide future growth and provide a roadmap for the incoming elected mayor and city staff to attract investment while balancing resident interests.
The commission voted to approve the resolution authorizing the city manager to execute the agreement and directed staff to proceed with the consultant scope as presented.
